Raevae - Taking a Stand

I sang at a friend’s wedding and sat feeling so proud of him and his new wife for taking such a commendable step in holy matrimony, when I was introduced to a man in his late forties. He sat on the same dinner table with me and I sat calmly waiting for the commencement of the reception. Enjoying our conversation, it then dawned on me that this 49-year old married man was actually ‘interested’ in me. He told me that he mentioned to the bride’s parents, “If she is single, I will become a Christian!” I sat stunned trying to maintain some sort of composure but tried laughing it off for indeed, it had to be a BIG JOKE. What would this 49 year old married man have to do with a 20-something year old woman like me? As well, he had the galls to show me pictures of his 20-something year old daughter and son on his cell phone. As I quickly finished my meal and tried saying goodbye he desired to have some sort of contact with me...but I escaped. What is this world coming to?

Lately we’ve been seeing many couples who marry each other mainly for physical intimacy, being unequally yoked in every way and corrupting God’s ideal for marriage (See Ephesians 5:31; 2 Corinthians 6:14). Same sex marriages have also sky rocketed since New York’s laws made it legal, and God’s people are staying silent. Are we supposed to just sit there and let the enemy have his way with us? A million times NO!!

Ephesians 6: 10-13 says:

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (KJV).

I deeply encourage you to spend more time in prayer with God and surrender all to His Holy Spirit. Time is closing in on us and Jesus is soon to return (John 14:1-3). Why not purpose in your hearts to live according to His standards today...and every day of your lives?

Take your stand Raevae! One man (young woman)and God is an army! It is daunting to note that so many young Christians are playing 'compromise,' without understanding the spiritually deadly ramifications of living with 'one foot in the world and the other 'playing Christian.' Your outlook as a young Christian woman is encouraging. Be blessed!

I agree with you, Raevae, and I'm proud of the decision you made. I'm shocked as well when I hear of stories like that. I've always made it a determination to take a stand, and your article just reminded me of it again. God bless you and keep you as you take a stand for what is right.

"The greatest want of the world is the want of men (& women) -- men (& women) who will not be bought or sold, men (& women) who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men (& women)who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men (& women)whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men (& women)who will stand for the right though the heavens fall." God be praised Raevae!

Well said Raevae! The craziest part is that the same media that sets forth this demoralizing agenda is what is raising our children. Today, being chaste is ridiculed. If you are faithful in your marraige, then your life is boring. Today what is wrong is right and what is right doesn't make sense. These are just signs of Christ's soon return. Continue to use this platform to stand for what is right is God's sight.

You are so right. The world is distorted and many people today live their lives with distorted views. As sabbath keeping, bible believing, God fearing Christians we need to take a stand, not just for ourselves but for all of human kind and the inhumane things that we do to ourselves and each other. When we know better we should do and encourage others to do better.

Way to go Raevae.

Its called integrity...something many people lack today even us Christians. Thanks you for the reminder Reaevae.

The nerve of people! He would become Christian just to marry you? This world is certainly crazy, and has turned upside down. Marriage is corrupted on so many levels, and we seriously need a divine intervention in this love-gone-bad generation.

Love your little story Raevae, good reminder.

Its becoming increasingly rare to see even so called Christians standing up for what is right according to God's standards. Thank you for taking a stand Raevae and may God help us all to do the same.

I completely agree that we need to take a stand! I was listening to an advertisement about a Christian conference and it mentioned a prison that has a great multitude of prisoners compared to the few guards watching over the prisoners. So the speaker asked the guard, "But what if all these prisoners decide to gang up against the few guards?" And the guard responded, "Insane people don't congregate". So the speaker then claimed in the advertisement, as Christians, we are insane if we don't congregate and do something in this world. Such as, Taking A Stand!

It is sorrowful to see the state of the world in which we live, however, these are signs of the closer return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. God bless you Raevae and I thank him for the stand you took. You've definitely encouraged me to take a stand as well. Continue shining your light for Jesus so that Christians can be encouraged and those who who never had the opportunity, can get to know him someday.

Raevae, you know you touched me this morning. To see a young Christian lady like you making such a stand for Christ and here we have big men and women, professing to be Christians.. Some even have positions in their churches who should know better but doing the opposite.

What is this world coming to?

It is quite dismaying to look at the path our world is walking. It remains quite naive to the future consequences as it argues for the sensuous moment of pleasure to be found in the present. The notion of a God only sits well with the world once it does not interfere with its concept of morality. With this in view, it is amazingly enlightening that within our midst there remain individuals with hearts of steel strengthened only through the power of God; they are monuments of God's power. Thank you for allowing God to make you one of His monuments Raevae. Continue standing as you are in the power of His Spirit.

It is refreshing when young people see it fit to stand up for what is right. God honors those who honor him.

Thanks for this. I find it so sad that we as God's people are so silent on immoral issues. It's really the time to be like "salt"

The world has to turn upside down before Jesus can come

There are still "Daniel & Friends" in the world today who are willing to stand in spite of what the rest of the world is doing. Keep standing regardless of the threat of the world's firey furnace of ridicule or lions den of isolation. Your story might not be recorded in a bible...but you can be certain it is recorded in the heavenly archives.
God Bless!

I am constantly amazed by your decision to let the Holy Spirit lead and guide your steps. Be encouraged to continue to let your light so shine before men, that they may see the glory of the Father within you. Souls will frequently be led to the cross by the sermon in your life. Remain trusting in God without quitting.

what is standing? Standing is asserting yourself above the calamities that may manifest itself in a a gender or thing. Sin has no boundaries; it entices you, comforts you and then reduce you to nothingness! This article has indeed showed that you can resist the immoral powers that be with integrity. Go Raev..! Go raev..!

Thank you Raevae for reminding us how the enemy can work if we are not careful to keep our armour on ... we can fall for these kind of temptations if by chance we are really attracted to a wolf in sheep's clothing!
